| Course Objectives | The aim of this course is to analyse the concept of intangible cultural heritage, i.e. traditional knowledge (TK) which is amongst the hottest issues on IP law from an international perspective, and to discuss the current Turkish Draft Law on Intangible Cultural Heritage along with UNESCO's Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. |

| Course Description | The Subject matter of this course is the comparison of IP law and TK. Course content includes the definition of TK which is amongst the hottest issues in IP law, the protection of TK and the impracticability of protecting TK with the conventional IP tools. The course content also includes traditional cultural expressions, genetic resources, copyrights, patents, trademarks, designs, geographical indications, biodiversity, sui generis protection, indigenous people, culture, intangible culturel heritage, UNESCO, human rights and local communities. |
